I'm not sure where you live, but here in California we have car culture rooted in our lifestyle. I know more people that not who are car enthusiasts. Maybe you should find a local auto-cross event, get some footage there, and also interview real drivers to ask them about the passion they have for cars. I'm currently doing a car documentary too but I ran into huge problems from my tutors. The keep asking me why am I doing a car documentary, what is the purpose of my documentary, who are the audience and etc. I don't mean that you have the problem but I wonder who are your audience or is it only for your own interest?
