LA Auto Show [aka welcome to the blog]

So I went to the LA Auto Show on Tuesday, December 2, 2009. This is the first of two press days for the event, and I spent a majority of my time there fighting to get a press badge, and to gain entry into the Los Angeles Convention Center. After sorting things out, I made my way through four halls — two major halls house the biggest brands in automotive OEMs. One smaller hall houses a humungous Porsche exhibit, as always. Another smaller hall is home to other exotics, such as the new Fisker, based in Irvine, CA. Additionally, Lotus, Rolls Royce, and other European super-car brands were showing their newest revisions.
BMW and Audi’s exhibits were the most eye-catching because of their bright, overly prestigious displays. It was nice to see some of the American brands making an effort for once as well. The Chevy Volt certainly isn’t the best looking auto out there, but hopefully it will bring GM the boost they will undoubtedly need to survive in the coming decade.

I have heard that this years auto show sucks. I also heard that some of the major European super car companies were MIA… Are these claims true and if so was this years show worth going to?
I don’t hate that Boxter Spider… is that bad?
@Shem – Nah, it’s a bit girly for my taste, but still a clean car in the end.
@Faraz – The show definitely was smaller this year when compared to recent events. Many of the displays that are generally set up on the walk between halls were missing entirely as well. Instead, there were just some simple banners hanging on the walls. In addition, the biggest halls definitely were lacking in intensity. BMW and Audi’s displays were definitely the most striking, and the American companies were sort of a let-down for me.
I just love these super cars, in any way and any form.
